Dr Anthony Mackie

Anthony is a registered Clinical Psychologist, with a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Swinburne University Melbourne. Anthony has a strong interest in working with men and supporting them as they adjust to life’s challenges. He has a particular interest in the science of attachment and bonding, and how this can help build stronger and healthier relationships.

Prior to joining GLOW Anthony worked in a range of settings in hospitals, the community and in private practice, including The Melbourne Clinic and The Centre for Emotion Focused Practice. His continues in private practice is at the Hart Felt Centre and joins the team at GLOW with enthusiasm to help support fathers in the South East of Melbourne.

Anthony co-facilitates Discovering Your GLOW Pre & Postnatal Depression & Anxiety Group at GLOW.  

Anthony no longer provide individual consultations at GLOW.

Anthony works from a humanistic and person-centred framework. That means he is interested in the whole person, not just a collection of symptoms. Client’s describe Anthony’s style as warm, respectful and collaborative, and he tries to understand and respond to the unique complexity within each of us.

Anthony has experience working with a range of therapeutic frameworks including CBT, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Mindfulness, and Emotion Focused therapy. He is passionate about the science behind psychology and for his doctoral thesis conducted original research into the treatment of anxiety disorders, with a particular focus on social anxiety and shyness. Anthony has presented his research findings at scientific conferences in Australia and overseas, most recently at the 7th World Congress of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies in Lima, Peru.

Outside of work Anthony is a keen photographer and rock-climber, and loves spending time with his family and in nature.
