Clinical Psychologist

Couples Counsellor

Romy Briner

Romy is a registered psychologist who holds a Master of Clinical Psychology from Deakin University. She has worked in a variety of settings including public and community mental health, private practice, and telephone crisis services.

Romy has experience treating a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder. She has a particular interest in assisting individuals and couples to resolve relationship issues. These issues include communication and parenting challenges, feeling disconnected from a partner, separation and divorce, role transitions, and infidelity.

It is through her relationship counselling experience that Romy became interested in supporting mothers and fathers during the perinatal period. Romy recognises that the perinatal period presents many challenges, as well as joys, to parents and families. She understands the importance of accessible emotional and mental health support for parents and infants during this crucial time. As such, Romy’s beliefs are strongly aligned with the vision and philosophy of GLOW Clinic.

Romy is skilled in delivering a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She always remains curious about the individual experiences of each of her clients and, as such, is committed to providing highly individualised treatment. Romy works closely with other health professionals to optimise client care.

Outside of work, Romy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, watching films, and pursuing her passion for board games and crosswords.
